Vegas Neon Classic Signs Beyond The Boneyard

When in Vegas… there is neon, lots of neon. Take a quick tour of some of the old Vegas neon found in old Vegas off of Fremont Street as well as the original sign on Las Vegas Blvd.

1 / The 5th Street Liquor Store opened in 1945 and closed in 1988. The sign still glows brightly in downtown Las Vegas.

2 / Oscars Martini glass on Fremont Street.

3 / The El Cortez opened in 1941 and is one of the oldest casino-hotel properties still operating.

4 / The Silver Slipper doesn’t contain neon but over 980 twinkling lights. It was the original sign for the Golden Slipper Saloon and Gambling Hall in the 1950s. In 1968, the hotel casino was purchased by Howard Hughes for $5.4 million until it was demolished sometime in 1988 and turned into a parking lot for the Frontier until its closing and demolition…
